Innovation with a tradition
More than 25 years after building its first staircase, Trappen Demunster has grown into a well-established company with a strong reputation for craftsmanship and quality. With their own sawmill, a modern workshop, and a close-knit team, Lieven, Valerie, and their staff continue to create sustainable, innovative, and stylish staircases, offering a personalized approach and an unmatched passion for wood.
Purchase of our second site in Deerlijk
In 2020, we acquired a second site in Deerlijk. Due to an ongoing shortage of space at our sawmill and the need to store and dry larger quantities of wood, we were able to expand our capacity by 1.5 hectares of industrial land. We are systematically renovating the old buildings and working to create the optimal conditions for storing and kiln-drying our own stock.
New machines and a modern showroom
In 2013, the team and the machinery moved to the new facility. This provided additional space for a more modern infrastructure, allowing the craftsmanship to shine even more. The showroom also underwent a complete makeover, with the aim of better guiding and inspiring customers.
Room for growth
Due to growing success and increased demand, expansion became necessary. In 2009, the farm behind the building was purchased and demolished two years later to make way for an additional 3,500 square meters of workspace.
First major step
In October 2001, Trappen Demunster moved into a new 1,000-square-meter workshop. Those early years were challenging and full of learning experiences, during which the team worked hard to grow the business and hone their craftsmanship. In the summer of 2002, Lieven and Valerie built a studio inside the workshop so they could literally live and work among the staircases.
The Beginning
In January 2000, Lieven and Valerie founded Trappen Demunster, starting out in a 320-square-meter workshop. Their first project was modest, but it marked the beginning of a promising future. In September of that same year, they had to look for a new location. They found it in Heule, where the company is still based today.
